About Brandy Pie Book Company
Brandy Pie Book Company makes books about characters who are makers not breakers, creators not destroyers. We show children they are surrounded by every day heroes, who will help them grow into heroes. Our stories are set in creeks, canyons, mountains, backyards, and kitchens. They tell of children, dogs, teachers, grandmas, parents, nurses and neighbors who learn to do hard things, who help others, and who make lives happier. Children start out confident, curious and collaborative. Our stories encourage these natural impulses. We create for ages 3 to 100. Three-year-olds are already trying to figure things out. We never stop. Our stories are about that way of living.
The People Behind The Pages
Kathleen Harward founded Brandy Pie Book Company after 14 years as a campus lawyer helping college students overcome mistakes, learn resilience, think entrepreneurially, and develop their abilities to make their own and other people’s lives better. She started this company as an antidote to a growing culture that encourages our youth to blame and destroy instead of create. She calls her children’s stories “the pots and pans” stories of life. She knows that children would rather play with the pots and pans they can reach in your cupboard than a toy out of a box. Children lean toward what is authentic!
Brandy Pie Book Company proudly provides opportunities for early-in-career artists and graphic designers from all over the world.
Graphic designer CJ Jewell of Christopher Jewell Design has created the design and lay-out for our first two books, The Shared Dog and The Lost Recipe, and he is currently laying out The Paddle Board Dog.
